Obama and Republicans Negotiate Tax Breaks and Infrastructure Spending

On Wednesday, President Obama made it clear that he opposes any compromise that would extend the Bush-era tax cuts beyond this year.  At the same time, the president has promoted his desire for a package of roughly $180 billion in expanded business tax cuts and infrastructure spending.

Rep. Boehner has indicated that the Republicans are willing to make a concession on a proposed extension of the Bush-era tax cuts, saying his party would accept a two-year extension instead of permanence.
